HOPE is the Advent candle this week. Each candle has a “nickname.” The Hope candle is called the prophecy candle because of the prophets who spoke of our hope in the coming Messiah.

As I see hate and discord grow in the world, this has become a significant candle for me. I look forward most to the hope of Christmas. The birth of Jesus, coming as a little baby, the incarnate God, who grew up to show the world true hope. He will make all things right, in peace, joy and love. This hope gives me peace today amid the wars, hatred, and violence. This hope enables me to have joy because I am thankful and rejoice in God’s blessings on our family and friends. And I hope mostly for love, God’s love, to rule the earth.

His kingdom come; his will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Hope, peace, joy, and love to you this Advent.
