Advent 2022: Thursday, December 15

December 15, 2022

One of my favorite Christmas traditions I had, when my children were young, was pulling out all the decorations and putting them on the tree. The grandparents added one each year to the collection and the special ones were handmade by the kids at school.

After the lights and decorations were all up, we would get our sleeping bags and pillows out and sleep under the lighted decorated tree that night. My kids then would anticipate the many gifts to come that will be under the tree.

Christmas is one of the happiest holidays because during this season, people are more generous than any other time of the year.

And yet, Christmas is not about the decorations, shopping or presents. It’s about the gift of Jesus, that he forgave us our sins and gave us the gift of hope and eternal life.

In this season what gift will we give to Jesus? All he wants is our love and to have a personal relationship with us. He wants us to seek him first in all that we do.

I have in my window a favorite decoration that I bought years ago for our house which says, “The Magic of Christmas is not in the presents but, in His presence.”
