Many may remember the old movie “Pollyanna” where the main character (Hayley Mills) lived to spread the message of finding the good in everything regardless of one’s circumstances. It was a “feel good” movie with a proper ending that left me thinking, even as a little girl, that I should do the same.
Today we are exposed to many books and articles that tell us the same thing--be grateful, find something to think positive about every day, be thankful for everything. What a concept!! These secular ideas mimic the very same things taught in God’s word—"Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—If anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things”. (Phil 4: 8). “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Phil 4:4). Let us truly rejoice in the Lord’s birth and ask Him to give us the heart of gratefulness and the power to live out these verses.
Christmastime is the best time to start if you haven’t already!
