A Joyous and Full-of-Praise Season
I enjoy reading the first chapter of Luke in The Message as it relates to the events leading up to the birth of Jesus. I rejoice in the songs of Elizabeth, Mary and Zechariah. (You may remember that Zechariah and Elizabeth were the parents of John the Baptist.)
I urge you to ponder numerous phrases in this passage of Scripture and lift your praise to God for what he has done in your life. Let’s look at a few of these phrases that jump off the page at me this morning paraphrased in a way that speaks to me. “Why am I so blessed that God touches my life?” “His mercy flows in wave after wave on me when I stand in awe of Him.” “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he came and set me free.” “He set the power of salvation in the center of our lives.” “I can worship Him without a care in the world and become more like Him if I obey Him.” “God has offered me the forgiveness of sins through His heartfelt mercies.”
While we are not in these Bible characters’ situation we should continue to give great praise to God in the situations we find ourselves. Remember to give thanks. Make this Advent Season a joyful and grateful time.
