But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him
~ Hebrews 11:6
It humbles me to be reminded that regardless of the morality of our lives, the good works we do, the sacrifices we make for God’s sake, that if we do these things without faith we do not please God. This really hits me because sometimes I find myself caught up in Christian activities, good works, etc. without being in the frame of mind of real faith and appreciation of God. I often need to come back to consciously putting my faith and trust in God because without faith it’s impossible to please God.
I have never seen God or heard his audible voice like Abraham, Moses and others. Yet I know in my heart that God loves me and that Jesus saved me with his work on the cross. I know this because I have faith in the word. I have faith that God’s word is revealed in scripture and I believe. This Christmas season offers a great time to reflect on our faith as Christians. I pray that the Holy Spirit moves me to consider and strengthen my faith every day of the year as well.
