About DCC
What is a Community Church?
- Non-denominational (but not anti-denominational).
- Its teaching is centered on the historic Protestant and Evangelical
essentials of salvation.
- The church looks for ways to use its facilities and programs to serve
the community needs in order to build bridges with the community.
Our Doctrine
Dillon Community Church, as a non-denominational congregation which serves
people from a wide variety of Christian traditions, affirms Protestant essentials
of salvation as its statement of faith:
- All scripture, containing both the Old and New Testaments, is inspired
by God and contains everything a person needs to know and to do for the
correct belief in God and correct living before Him.
- This is only one God, the loving Creator, Sustainer and Judge of the
universe, who is eternally existent in three persons: God, the Father;
God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit.
- Humans are created in God’s image for a personal relationship
with God, but have disobeyed God and become alienated from Him as a consequence
of that disobedience.
- Jesus is the only Christ, as foretold in the Old Testament, who took
on flesh in order to suffer the consequences for human disobedience by
dying on the cross. On the third day after His death He was physically
raised from the dead.
- The Holy Spirit is the manifestation of God’s presence on earth
in order to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by empowering the people
to repentance and faith in Christ, to godly, moral living and for works
of service.
- Salvation is being spared God’s judgement against our disobedience
as an unearned gift from God through faith in Christ, not by any good
works we do to earn eternal life.
- There is a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. Every person has an immortal
soul which will spend eternity in either Heaven or Hell. Believing in
Christ is the sole criterion for where a person spends eternity.
- Jesus will physically return to earth to bring eternal life to His followers
and eternal condemnation to those who have rejected Him.
